Alpha 4 Changelog

Alpha Demo Number 4 will be available tomorrow - here are the changes made compared to Alpha 3:

- Most of the Military Base levels (save one) are more or less fully implemented

- The Sal Guardsmen/shield enemies will try to surround the player more, though admittedly this isn't as consistent as I'd like.

- Made weapons and ammo more easily available

- Added sound effects for when bullets hit walls and floors

- Added a sound effect for bodies hitting the floor (let this happen)

- Fixed bug in the options menu where it wouldn't show default controls until you hit the 'reset controls to default' button

- Fixed bug in options menu that would set your FOV to 0 if you didn't explicitly set it to something else

- Remembered to turn on the 'Poor Man's Fog Effect' (this is what it's actually called in the files)

"Hey Kaiser, how 'bout that Linux version? :D" - Someone, probably

Oh, yeah, right, that. So basically *another* of the plugins is causing the engine to freak out - even though it seemed to work fine the last time I made a Linux build (which in fairness was quite a while ago now). I'm considering either scrapping that particular plugin and putting in my own solution (which would be a pain in the ass) or just jettisoning the idea of a Linux release entirely, which I really don't want to do. I know that's basically a repeat of the last devlog - and that's because it is - but I guess the lesson here is that plugins are a real double-edged sword.

They can be quite useful - getting things done in a timely manner - but there's no guarantee that they'll continue working if you have to change engine versions for whatever reason.
